The SIMD1 V3 is very similar to the NPN flavor of SIMD1 V2, but with the addition of a FET on the output line. This makes life easier for its attached load (since there`s no need here for something that can use an `enable line`), by providing power that`s just `there` in the dark. Here the FET is used to sink load current from a pummer, motor, or whatever. visit page.

Code provides adjustable differential drive for robots

Intelligently modifying the motor-drive commands to a robot can give you control finesse during competitions. Moving a joystick hard right, for example, might have different effects, depending on the robot`s speed and direction. Software running on an inexpensive microcontroller (in this case, an...

The P5v2 5-motor walker circuit

The 74AC240 chips (U1-U5) are used as H-bridge style motor drivers since they have almost double the drive current compared to 74HC240 chips. These motor driver chips are permanently enabled by grounding control pins 1 and 19. The two groups each have four inputs connected in common to a bicore...

RF Modem Robotics Project

RF is just way too cool not to use in your designs. But if you`re a newbie like me it is difficult to successfully build solid RF transmitters and receivers. When I started out I didn`t realize that the larger breadboard I was working off of was causing a lot of the signal deviance because the...

Dual dc-motor-speed controllers navigate robots

Mobile robots need simple and lightweight dc-motor-speed-control hardware that can work with low-power batteries. Flip-flop type navigation systems allow only one motor to operate at a time while the other motor remains off. Navigation direction changes alternatively even when the robot has to...

sound-sensor

As you can see, we introduced a PIC into the circuit. Actually this is our first contact with the 16F84 from Microchip . To handle with such a micro-controller, one has to own a programmer, a hardware interface to the PC, where the chip is programmed. We found a design of such a programmer in the...

Chloroplast solar engines

Craig Maynard dreamed up the Chloroplast solar engine (an interesting design, tho' it uses two parts you probably won't have sitting around in your parts drawer). Since I really can't describe it better than Craig can, here's his description (from the Chloroplast web site), followed up by...

The "Happy Birthday Singer" solar engine

The happy-birthday singer is a two bit wide by n words deep programable sequencer with 4 commands: reset to start vector (00), decrease frequency (01),increase frequency (10), and pause (11). The device starts out with a 2 word vector jump at the start of memory which locates 16 positions in it`s...

The Millipede

Me and a friend are both trying to build a millipede. Because of obvious reasons, the millipede is NOT going to have 1000 feet!!! Instead, it`s going to have 16 pager motors as feet. It will also have 3 MicroMotors to ``bend`` towards light, and a backup sensor.
