The EUA2032 is a high-efficiency, 2.5W mono class-D audio power amplifier. A newly developed filterless PWM modulation architecture further reduces EMI and THD+N, as well as eliminates the LC output filter, thereby reducing the external component count, system cost, and simplifying design. Operating on a single 5V supply, the EUA2032 is capable of driving a 4-ohm speaker load at a continuous average output of 2.5W with 10% THD+N or 2W with 1% THD+N. The EUA2032 exhibits high efficiency with a speaker load compared to a typical class AB amplifier. With a 3.6V supply driving an 8-ohm speaker, the efficiency at a 400mW power level is 84%. In cellular handsets, the earpiece, speakerphone, and melody ringer can each be driven by the EUA2032. The gain of the EUA2032 is externally configurable, allowing for independent gain control from multiple sources by summing signals from separate sources. The EUA2032 is available in space-saving WCSP and TDFN packages from Eutech Microelectronics Inc.
The EUA2032 is designed for applications requiring efficient audio amplification with minimal external components. The filterless PWM modulation architecture not only enhances the efficiency of the amplifier but also significantly lowers electromagnetic interference (EMI) and total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N). This makes the EUA2032 particularly suitable for portable devices where space and power consumption are critical.
The amplifier operates efficiently with a single 5V power supply, making it ideal for battery-powered applications. It can drive a 4-ohm speaker with a continuous output of 2.5W at a distortion level of 10% THD+N, or 2W at a lower distortion level of 1% THD+N. This capability allows the EUA2032 to deliver high-quality audio output without the need for bulky external components such as inductors or capacitors typically required in traditional class AB amplifiers.
In terms of efficiency, the EUA2032 achieves an impressive 84% efficiency when driving an 8-ohm speaker at a power level of 400mW with a 3.6V supply. This high efficiency is crucial in portable and battery-operated devices, where power conservation extends battery life and reduces heat generation.
The amplifier's versatility is further enhanced by its externally configurable gain, which allows users to adjust the output level independently for various audio sources. This feature is particularly useful in applications involving multiple audio inputs, such as cellular handsets, where the earpiece, speakerphone, and melody ringer may require different amplification levels.
The EUA2032 is offered in compact WCSP (Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package) and TDFN (Thin Dual Flat No-lead) packages, which facilitate integration into space-constrained designs. These packaging options contribute to the overall compactness and efficiency of the final product, making the EUA2032 a suitable choice for modern electronic audio applications. The EUA2032 is a high efficiency, 2. 5W mono class-D Audio Power Amplifier A new developed filterless PWM modulation architecture further reduces EMI and THD+N, as well as eliminates the LC output Filter reducing external component count, system cost, and simplifying design.
