Do you hear any singing or screeching when your circuit is on I also saw that the spiral type CFLs are specially good for such experiments (they seem to ignite easier than the U-shaped tubes). I like the idea to light a CFL from an AAA battery. It always catches the attention of onlookers. It is almost impossible to reconstruct your circuit from the video. I would like to ask you to post a photo of a simple hand drawing of your circuit (schematics).
